:) beautiful, Francine.there is a map
where the dark lines of a highway
lead to specks of an unknown road then,
disappear-
what is that place, that blankness?
when you have someone that joins you on such a journey,
laughter is around a bend,
curiosity will fill the space in the car,
an eccentric stranger in the next town
will invite you into a few minutes of their world,
each day you will wear the spirit of adventure
like a well deserved medal-
you will never be lost,
and nothing will be lost on you
loving the road,
searching for a place to sleep,
standing in mountain twilight,
changing directions,
feeling at home in a house that is not your own,
following a river road,
meeting storms
and odd people who wave at you coming and going-
moving in music,
stopping with silence
when the landscape robs you of breath,
bleary-eyed night drives
and headlights appearing out of nowhere,
and that exists-
more real than anywhere inked on a map
or imagined in our minds-
and finally, places that never wanted us,
now know we are alive
This has me looking forward to my trip to Nashville and Loiusville next weekend. Big time.
